Luton Community Housing

Based in Luton and South Bedfordshire, Luton Community Housing limited exists to provide high standard of accommodation and service for people within the area. Started in 1964 by two church groups as a not-for-profit organisation to provide affordable housing to people who are least able to compete in today’s market.

They involve their tenants in every aspect of the management of their homes, which can be tailored to their individual needs as well as involvement in their own communities to ensure they deliver the right service.

Brief

Luton Community Housing were looking to carry out a complete Server and Desktop refresh, migration of Microsoft SQL, Exchange as well as Line of Business application software. It was imperative that the select IT partner would need to work closely with their existing data base supplier. Installation to include Anti-Virus software, Daily backup with first line telephone support. All to be carried out with the minimum amount down time.

This was going to be a large scale deployment for LCH which would lead to higher productivity and an improved ROI on their Hardware and Software investment.

The Installation

Once appointed as the preferred contractor Pacific had to provide a road map on installation time scale. We started by deploying both Dell servers with Microsoft Exchange, SQL and Server 2007 and new business application software. This had to be carried out with the minimum of disruption to their business while working closely with their Application software supplier.

One of the key facts about Office 2007 is to ensure that all old machines are fully upgraded again providing higher productivity for staff members, Pacific worked closely with the und user to ensure minimum disruption.

With Symantec Backup Exec and first line telephone support in place the complete installation was completed to customer time scale.
