Brief
Pacific Computers Enterprise Team were approached as, due to volume of growth within their company their current server was not able to handle the volume of throughput, Together with the IT manager’s input at Castle Cover, Pacific were able to put forward a solution which allowed for their current requirements, A “Database Server” Linux based, Hosting an Oracle 10g Database which would comfortably handle their current requirements as well as allowing for future growth. The Server needed to have a lot of processi
ng power as well as “Mission Critical” resiliency required, such as redundant Power Supplies and Fans. As an HP preferred partner, The DL580 range featuring four Xeon7460 (6 Core) processors, giving a total 24 core server, would provide enough processing power, In addition they needed to attach the server to an IBM FC SAN and this was achieved with two HP StorageWorks 8Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus adapters for resiliency. In addition to their current IBM FC SAN Pacific added 4.5Tb of Data Storage by way of a DS4000 EXP810 expansion unit with 15 x 300GB FC drives.
Delivery
Castle Cover chose Pacific computers Ltd, because they could achieve their strict Timescale’s as well coming in on budget. In addition Pacific Computers were engaged in the preparation of the server, Pacific had to assemble, test and deliver a complete working server to minimize Castle Cover’s down time as the installation was due to be carried out over the weekend.
